Minimally Invasive Arthroscopic Hamstring Technique

MRI scan showing Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear.

The anterior cruciate ligament is lying obliquely, arising from the lower bone(tibia) passing upwards and to the right. It would normally attach to the upper bone(thigh bone / femur).

The Ligament has torn off the end of the thigh bone (femur) and is surronded by "white".

This "white" is fluid. It represents blood and inflammatory fluid from the recent tear.

The ACL can be seen to have a ripple in it, normally it is straight connecting the two bones.

MRI  scan will show the knee in amazing detail.

It will confirm the tear when there is doubt. It will show any assosciated cartilage tears, bone bruises and other ligament tears - such as the medial collateral ligament.

Open MRI scanners are not claustrophic as the closed tunnel type ones can be
